The African Child whose parents are in prison live in a state of disarray. They experience a higher risk of child Poverty and homelessness, dropping out of school, Early pregnancy, physical and Sexual abuse and social stigmatization and Becoming entangled in the criminal justice system themselves. These children undergo untold trauma and this can lead to a wide range of mental health issues that may not emerge until later in life. Research and experience has taught us that these children, if helped, can survive all or some of the risks and can thrive to be victors. The Wells of Hope Model for Interventions for Children with a parent in prison provides high chances for positive outcomes for these children paving a way to be agents of transformation in Africa.
