WELLS OF HOPE AFRICA ORIGIN
Wells of Hope Africa was birthed from Wells of Hope Ministries Uganda and Utilizes the Wells of Hope Ministries Model for HELPING Children with Incarcerated Parents. In 2016 Francis Ssuubi the founder of Wells of Hope Ministries was on a mission trip to the United of America, and while walking on the streets of Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale California he received a spiritual conviction to as well reach other Countries of Africa to help Children with Incarcerated parents. The Burden was so heavy on his heart that he battled with it in his heart, because already he had struggled to found and get Wells of Hope Ministries in Uganda on its footing, he saw going to other countries in Africa to help the children there impacted by parent imprisonment as a VERY HUGE task but since he felt the leading of The Lord, with tears in his eyes HE SAID YES LORD. God showed him that children with incarcerated parents were going to become the game changer for the transformation Africa has been needing since time immemorial! And by then Francis did not know how this would be. In December 2016 Francis set boots on ground in Kenya and Tanzania to do reconnaissance and in 2017 Francis Ssuubi through Wells of Hope Ministries started on a Pilot basis helping children with incarcerated parents in Uganda Mbeya Tanzania and Embu Kenya and later Busia Kenya on a Pilot Basis. Also based on his Trip to South Africa in June 2024 at Sandton Hotel where Masana wa Africa – one of Wells of Hope Ministries donors- was Launching its work, Francis met several charities Across Africa. From this and previous findings, we learnt that there are many charities in Africa helping children but very few almost none in some countries that help children with parents in prison. And for those who want to help or are already existing they have a challenge of lack of funds and capacity in terms of systems! From our finding we have learnt that The biggest problems charities helping children with a parent in prison including Wells of Hope Ministries in Uganda is the stigmatization people in Prison face, so most funders do not fund work related to people in prison, because most people do not want to associate with people in prison. And as such even children of people in prison caught in the web of crime suffer the consequences. The other reason very few funders would consider supporting any work in prison is due to its peculiarity and there is no credible research that has been done about this group of children and they never place in their programming areas for the kind of target beneficiaries they would help! During the 9th International Study Week on Children with Incarcerated Parents hosted by Wells of Hope Uganda that took place in July 2024 , two of the participants MS Katie Katie Kramer the founder of THE BRIDGING GROUP USA and MS Karene-Anne Nathaniel-DeCaires a professor of Lecturer, Social Work from Trinidad and Tobago inspired Wells of Hope through Francis to elevate the work of Wells of Hope Ministries to a level it can replicate its successful model by establishing its self as a hub to strengthen its work and it was at that point Francis came up with Wells of Hope Africa to separate it from Wells of Hope Ministries but use it to extend its hands out to help other children on the African soil impacted by parental imprisonment. With your prayers and Support lets watch the space and see great things that are going to happen through Wells of Hope Africa as a great Transformation is being birthed and yet to be unveiled to the Continent of Africa through these Unheard, un thought off, the under dogs of society, and many a times ostracized children with a parent in Prison yet these are the Hidden Jewels children that are going to become a Centre piece of transformation in Africa.
